A BULAWAYO construction company, Laquer Construction, has completed one of its major projects, that of building a three-storey structure for the Ministry of Energy and Power Development at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in the city.

The company has also worked on a number of projects such as building classroom blocks for Early Childhood Development (ECD) at schools like Mckeurtan, Greenfield and Robert Tredgold primary schools. In an interview, the company’s managing director, Mr Future Chakanyuka, said they started operations in 2014.

“Laquer Construction was registered on 19 September 2014 and the company was initially located in Gwabalanda. Seeking to be in a more convenient location the company moved to Conluit Industrial Park at the beginning of 2015 and remains located there to date. It is at those premises where the offices are located and also a workshop where fabrication work is done,” he said.

Mr Chakanyuka said the company faced operational challenges although they have managed to remain afloat.

“As a company we faced operative challenges due to lack of machinery and had to use hired equipment but that was dealt with as the company bought its own machinery,  making it easier to efficiently complete clients’ projects,” said Mr Chakanyuka.
