Late hero Mwafisha described as a patriotic cadre

Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East Dr Apollonia Munzverengwi has described the late liberation hero Cde Kumbirai Josiah Mwafisha as a patriot.

She made the remarks during the burial of the late Cde Mwafisha held at the Mashonaland East provincial Heroes Acre in Marondera on Tuesday this week.

Cde Mwafisha died on September 27, 2024, at Marondera Provincial Hospital after a short illness.

He was 73

“It is a sad moment for the province and the nation at large as a dark cloud of sorrow and grief has been cast over our province and our motherland as we are gathered to mourn the loss of Cde Kumbirai Josiah Mwafisha whose Chimurenga name was Rex Hamandafa.

“On behalf of the Government of Zimbabwe, the ZANU PF party, the entire province of Mashonaland East, the freedom fighters, and on my own behalf, I express our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved children and entire family members at this very painful moment where we have lost a gallant son of the soil,” she said.

“Cde Mwafisha was an affectionate and loving father. He served his country with utmost good faith and was a true patriot. He fully supported and endorsed government policies and programs.

“To you, Cde Mwafisha, I say, go well Comrade. You ran your race and you fought a good battle. We are forever grateful for your great commitment and support towards the sovereignty and development of this great nation. Famba Zvakanaka Gamba rema Gamba!”
