From Lloyd Gumbo in Victoria Falls
The Third African Think Tank Summit has opened in Victoria Falls where about 130 delegates from all African countries have converged to share notes on how to develop the continent in line with agendas 2030 and 2063. Proceedings kicked off with a press conference addressed by African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) executive secretary, Professor Emmanuel Nnadozie, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) Deputy Executive Secretary, Dr Abdalla Hamdok and Dr Ibrahim Assane Mayaki who is the chief executive officer of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD).
The trio said African think tanks were expected to play a major role in the development of the continent given their wide knowledge of issues affecting African countries.
Africa Governance Institute Governing Board chairperson, Mr Abdoulie Janneh, officially opened the Summit.
The Summit, running under the theme: “Creating a sustainable future for AfricanThink Tanks in support of Sustainable Development Goals and Agenda 2063 implementation”, was organized by ACBF in partnership with the African Union Commission, NEPAD and UNECA.
