The High Court has ordered Zanu-PF supporters who had invaded a portion of Caledonia farm to vacate the piece of land with immediate effect pending the finalisation of the land dispute.
Caledonia Enterprise and its owners Cde Paddy Zhanda and Mr Rina Leonie Dutoit obtained an interim order to evict the party supporters who had taken part of the farm.
Plans were already underway to subdivide the farm into residential stands. Last week thousands of the Zanu-PF supporters gathered at the farm compound for a rally to drum up support for Cde Mavis Gumbo.
However, Cde Gumbo had her candidature withdrawn in favour of Cde Terrence Mukupe who beat the former in a primary election last month.
Justice Felistas Chatukuta granted the urgent chamber application by Cde Zhanda and Mr Dutoit who were being represented by Mr David Drury of Honey and Blanckenberg.
“Pending the determination of this matter…. applicants and all persons claiming lawful occupation through them be and are hereby restored to free undisturbed possession, use occupation and control over Lot1 of Caledonia measuring approximately 297 4369 ha held under Deed of Transfer 8541/96..” read part of the interim order.
Cde Zvidzai Kawocha, Lands and Rural Resettlement Minister Douglas Mombeshora and Chief Inspector Mahwe who is officer –in-charge Mabvuku police station were cited as respondents.
