LATEST: Female journalists tour SA newsrooms

A GROUP of 14 female journalists is touring different media houses in South Africa as part of its Women Journalists Mentoring Programme (WJMP). The five-day tour, which is being facilitated by the Humanitarian Information Facilitation Centre (HIFIC) and the American Embassy Public Affairs Section, is meant to provide the WJMP participants with a range of tools to advance their careers in the media and information sector through the various activities lined up.

The Director of HIFIC Virginia Muwanigwa told the participants that the tour will also seek to enhance their knowledge around key areas in reporting and offering tips on how to cover issues effectively.

Among other institutions, the participants will also tour various newsrooms including eTV, SABC, City Press/Sunday Times, the Mail & Guardian, Gender Links, eNews Channel, Wits School of Journalism, and regional media advocacy groups.
