THE National Patriotic Front (NPF) has fired its interim president, Retired Brigadier-General Ambrose Mutinhiri, replacing him with the party’s national chairperson Ms Eunice Sandi Moyo.
Rtd Brig-Gen Mutinihiri was fired for among other things, teaming up with a former Cabinet Minister to disrupt a meeting of the party’s founding national executive committee.
NPF is composed mostly of G40 disgruntled members some of them who were fired from Zanu-PF.
In a statement released by the party’s spokesperson, Mr Jealousy Mawarire, the party noted that Rtd Brig-Gen Mutinihiri was incompetent and was not committed to party business.
“The meeting noted that Cde Mutinhiri, who, on 9 May 2018, at a NFEC meeting in Borrowdale, apologized for his nonchalant approach to the task the party assigned to him, still showed gross incompetence, lack of commitment to the party and its cause, and therefore decided to relieve him of his current duties pending reassignment.
“The NFEC also noted that Cde Mutinhiri’s alliance with the former Cabinet Minister points to a deliberate ploy to disrupt the NPF activities especially in the ongoing coalition talks,” said Mr Mawarire.
It was further revealed that former Bulawayo Metropolitan Provincial Minister, Ms Sandi Moyo’s negotiations, on behalf of the party, with an unnamed coalition partner are set to be completed on Monday.
