LATEST: Thousands arrested for cross border crimes and gold panning

OVER 100 000 people have been arrested in operations targeting cross border crimes and illegal mining activities.

Police tweeted that by October 24, a total of 59 216 had been arrested for cross border crimes, while 52 632 had been arrested for illegal mining activities since the start of the operation in January.

By October 24, a total of 23 873 had been arrested under operation ‘No to touting” which also started in January. On October 24 police also impounded 32 unregistered motor vehicles bringing the total to 14 822 since the operation “No to unregistered vehicles” started in January. – @DubeMatutu
