Although earlier reports suggested that a pact had been signed by the two MDCs, Mavambo and Zapu it has since emerged that Tsvangirai was spurned.
Mr Tsvangirai is desperate to engineer a coalition with other political parties to unseat Zanu-PF.
This is after the MDC-T leader realised that his chances of winning the next elections were slim following his love shenanigans that left his character as a national leader battered.
The signing ceremony was hastily cancelled after MDC leader Professor Welshman Ncube and Zapu frontman Mr Dumiso Dabengwa pulled a shocker announcing a bilateral alliance excluding Mr Tsvangirai.
Left with egg on his face, Mr Tsvangirai and Mavambo leader Dr Simba Makoni were left without an option but to cancel the press conference.
Asked on why the press conference was cancelled, Mr Tsvangirai’s spokesperson Mr Luke Tamborinyoka said: “Do we owe an explanation to The Herald for cancelling the press conference?
“Imi chamunongoziva chete ndechekuti press conference yakanzurwa.”
However, MDC deputy spokesperson Mr Kuraone Chihwayi said MDC-T approached them with dirty hands.
He said MDC-T wanted to use them for the purposes of extorting money from the international community.
“They (MDC-T) wanted to use us forgetting that we are a big and serious party that cannot be used by (Morgan) Tsvangirai,” he said.
“They are not an honest lot and they wanted to use us for the purposes of extorting money from the international community. A serious negotiator does not come with conditions and a position to the negotiating table.”
“They (MDC-T) wanted us to back Tsvangirai and donate our voters to him. Professor Ncube is not a habitual sellout who can betray his supporters like that.”
Mr Chihwayi said it was wrong for anyone to think that Mr Tsvangirai was a God given leader and should be the leader of any proposed coalition.
He accused MDC-T of staging coalitions in the media saying Zimbabwe could not afford to have a blunt leader such as Mr Tsvangirai.
Mr Chihwayi said MDC-T was forgetting that it sidelined them and fought from a Zanu-PF corner in protecting Professor Arthur Mutambara as Deputy Prime Minister.
He said they could only accept coalitions with honest people like Dr Dabengwa.
Mr Chihwayi confirmed that Prof Ncube and Dr Dabengwa signed an agreement in Bulawayo today.
In a communiqué released after the signing ceremony Zapu and MDC agreed that the two parties would not enter into any agreement with other parties.
Where such a move was to be taken, it has to be agreed by both parties.
“The parties would not discuss or enter into any pact or coalition with any other party other than with each other, namely MDC and ZAPU (save in circumstances where an agreement would have been reached between the two parties).
“This was in recognition of previous discussions that had established that the two parties shared common values and principles,” reads part of the communiqué.
The parties also agreed that in any constituency and or ward where one party had not fielded a candidate, the other party would mobilise its members and supporters to vote for the other party’s candidate.
The two parties agreed to go and consult their respective constituencies with a view to field one Presidential candidate.
