ZIMBABWE got off to a slow start at the Africa Nations Championships following a 1-0 by Zambia at Umuganda Stadium in Rwanda. The Warriors failed to click and the Northern neighbours utilised the few chances they created.

Veteran Isaac Chansa scored the solitary goal that made the difference in the 68th minute.

Zimbabwe had an upper hand in the first half with Ronald Chitiyo testing Zambia goalkeeper after breaking loose on the right. He returned to hunt Chipolopolo two minutes later and the ball had to be cleared off the line by an alert Zambian defender.

Zimbabwe had to make some changes in its defense following the injury of centre back Elisha Muroiwa who collided with a Zambian player. Muroiwa paved way for Steven Makatuka.

The other changes saw Rodrick Mutumwa coming in for Gerald Takwara while Marshall Mudehwe came in for Edmore Chirambadare towards the end of the match.
