ABOUT 100 women from Ruwadzano Vapositori for Economic Development and affiliates Harare Province have graduated with certificates after completing a Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Development course, courtesy of the Zanu PF Women’s League.
The programme covered soap, dish wash, dishwashers, foam baths, petroleum jellies, body lotions, pine gel and washing liquid manufacturing.
This comes as the ruling party continues to initiate development that leaves no-one and no place behind.
Officiating during the ceremony, Secretary for Women’s Affairs and Senate president Mabel Chinomona implored beneficiaries of the programme to productively use the acquired skills and transform their livelihoods.
“I believe with these entrepreneurial skills woman will not be left behind because of the acquired knowledge. We still have to do more in as far as innovation is concerned.
“We have come along with our training programmes. It’s time we go beyond the normal training for ourselves. The initial phase was meant to ensure that you produce for your households. We wanted you to have clean homesteads and make some small income,” she said.
Several women who benefited from the programme commended the ruling party for empowering them and promised to take the skills back home and use them productively.
“We were taught of a lot of things by our President, Cde Mnangagwa, to use our own hands so as to take care of our families, we are grateful for the opportunity rendered. The skills training broadened our minds,” said a beneficiary, Ms Nestai Chawasarira.
“We thank our President for affording us such an opportunity to widen our skills, we were trained to manufacture detergents and I am looking forward to better my future and I foresee myself being able to fend for my family,” said Ms Nomsa Chivandire.
