Lecturer fined for assault

The lecturer, David Mosilo Leboho (48) who is the head of department of science subjects was fined $100 for his unprofessional conduct.
Leboho was convicted on his own plea to assault and was fined $100 or 30 days in prison by Gweru Regional Magistrate, Mr Vakai Douglas Chikwekwe.
For the State, Mr Jairus Mutsekwa told the court that on 29 September this year, Leboho, who is the HOD of science subjects at Mkoba Teachers College called for a meeting with fellow lecturers in the department.
He said the meeting was aimed at improving results in the department as well as mapping the way forward ahead of the new college term.
Mr Mutsekwa said during the meeting, one of the lecturers in attendance, Mr Stalin Musingarambi, raised objections to some of the issues that were raised by Leboho.
He said some lecturers that included Mr Farai Sironde also weighed in, in support of Mr Musingarambi.
This did not go down well with Leboho who then became violent and started assaulting Musingarambi and other lecturers for raising objections to his proposals.
Mr Mutsekwa said Leboho assaulted the lecturers with open hands.
During the scuffle, Leboho went on to lift Mr Musingarambi and threw him on a table and broke his spectacles in the process.
The lecturers then bolted out of the meeting room.
The matter was then reported to the police leading to Leboho’s arrest.
