BULAWAYO nightspots and leisure centres are hoping to cash in on the Heroes’ and Defence Forces’ holidays as they have lined up numerous activities for the long weekend.

Heroes Day, celebrated annually on the second Monday of August and Defence Forces Day, celebrated on the second Tuesday of August, are public holidays to remember and honour fallen heroes and members of the armed forces who gave their lives to defend Zimbabwe.

This year, the days fall on August 10 and 11.

The highlight of the holiday will be South Africa’s NaakMusiq who will be performing in Bulawayo for the first time at Horizon Night Club on Saturday evening.

He is expected in the city on Saturday afternoon for a brief tour where he will meet and interact with fans.

Local artistes, POY, Cal_Vin, Defined House and a cast of DJs including Crazy Dee, Mxolisi, Grooveman, Prince, Dash, Lacusto, Que-Bass and Nospa will warm up the stage for the former Generations actor.

Alternatively, outdoor party lovers can dance the night away at the Hartsfield Sports Grounds with Zim dancehall artistes, Ricky Fire, Seh Calaz, Judgement Yard, Jason Le Roux, and Mix Masterz during ZiFM’s third anniversary celebrations on Saturday.

On the same night, Harare strippers, La Dolce, who failed to pitch up last month, are expected to stage a make-up show at Metropolis Pub and Grill.

One of the organisers of the show, DJ Sweeto, advised patrons to brace themselves for x-rated dance moves.

“The show won’t be for the faint hearted so people should come ready to be teased. The strippers couldn’t make it last time as they were mourning,” said DJ Sweeto. The festivities will continue on Sunday with a “Windhoek Kasi Party” which will feature 34 hip hop and house artistes at Emakhandeni cricket club. Among the performers are POY, Mzoe 7, Guluva Seven, Prime suspects and Tear Dream Boiz.

Harare’s Judgement Yard will be making their way to Bulawayo on Friday for a Heroes Party at Club Eden.
