“NOW Jericho was tightly shut up because of the children of Israel; no one went out and no one came in. And the Lord said to Joshua, ‘See, I have given Jericho into your hands, along with its king and mighty men of valour.’” — Joshua 6: 1-2
Think about this: The children of Israel had wandered in the wilderness for 40 years.
Now, they were finally stepping into the Promised Land.
But Jericho’s fortified walls stood in their way. Yet God declared:
“I have got this. I have already given Jericho into your hands.”
Can you imagine the Israelites saying: “Jericho, why waste your time trying to shut us out? Don’t you know where we have come from?
Even the Red Sea could not hold us back. Pharaoh himself tried to stop us — and failed. Who are you, Jericho, to think you can shut your doors on us?”
Here is the truth: Just because something tries to shut you out does not mean you will be stopped. God had a different plan.
He told Joshua, “I have given Jericho into your hands”, not “will give” but “have given”.
The victory had already been secured.
When doors are closed, walls can come tumbling down. Do not underestimate the power of God.
He can bring down any obstacle, any barrier, any wall that stands in your way.
All He asks is that you trust Him.
The Israelites marched around Jericho for seven days, blowing trumpets and shouting.
It seemed like a strange strategy — but it was God’s strategy.
And on the seventh day, the walls fell.
God’s ways are not our ways.
He often uses unconventional methods to fulfil His purpose.
We may not understand why He asks us to do certain things, but we can trust that He knows exactly what He is doing.
The Israelites obeyed God’s instructions, even when they seemed not to make sense.
They marched, they blew trumpets and they shouted.
And when they did, the walls came down.
That is the power of obedience. When we follow God’s lead, even when it is difficult or unclear, we open the door to His power and provision.
Always remember that God is in control.
Do not underestimate His ability to tear down any obstacle.
Trust His plan — even when doors seem closed — because He can open new opportunities in ways you never imagined.
So, keep marching forward.
Do not give up, even when the challenge feels insurmountable.
Obey God’s instructions. Trust that His ways are higher than ours.
Bear in mind that obedience can lead to breakthroughs.
What walls are you facing today? What obstacles seem too big to overcome? Trust that God is on your side.
He can bring down any wall that is trying to hold you back.
Keep marching. Keep trusting. And watch how He moves in your life.
