Pastor Kilton Moyo
IN the last article, I wrote about faulty foundations that most families are built on. I touched on things such as idolatry, witchcraft, jealousy, hatred, tribalism and racism. One reason for so many afflictions in our communities and nations is that the family system has been highjacked and corrupted. Instead of producing godliness, the family now produces evil and churns a lot of it into the communities.
The enemy has stolen the nature of the family and re-programmed it with his destructive models. We must never forget that the devil’s business is always to steal, kill and destroy. I am on record saying that the challenge in the world today is a luke warm to cold family system. The family is a place of training in godliness, and character. It is a place of grooming and moulding attitudes and mindsets that can promote the purpose of humanity and God’s creation. It is at family or home level where we must form in humanity the attitude that can respond with goodness to the world’s culture of persecution and destruction.
However, the current family seems to be teaching the devil more than it teaches God, who created it. The reason is that it is built on faulty and wrong foundations. We have remained comfortable on these foundations which we have described as our culture and the traditions of our forefathers, no matter how faulty they are. May I make it clear, to anyone who will read this that, racism, tribalism, idolatry, witchcraft, drunkenness, discrimination, jealousy are never the traditions of our forefathers or human cultures but they are doctrines of demons meant to dehumanise humanity and draw her away from her Creator. You can never build anything sound on these. I think also we must understand that family is not a political thing but a spiritual institution in its beginning to the end. It is spiritual in its function and purpose and must therefore be understood as such.
My belief is that the current family has to shift focus and begin to teach God to its offspring. Without God, we are doomed. Without family, the future generations are doomed. Streets can never be places of growth and grooming in godliness. This generation has got to arise and protect the sanctity of the family. We are supposed to be a re-building generation and our first assignment begins with the family. Stability in the family will bring stability in our communities. If God is found in the family, He will be found in the community, in politics, in the marketplace, at school, in business, in sports, at Church, because we will carry Him there from our homes. Currently the enemy is breeding criminals, murderers, Satanists, the anti-Christ and many more in the family. I have said that the Family was set up by God so it can produce for God but alas, things have changed. We need therefore to be deliberate in the re-building the family system.
What then should we be teaching at family level?
I think we should be teaching, deliberately, the fear of God. The Bible is clear that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. Beloved, don’t you see that we have so many fools around us today. We have so many unwise people in all levels of leadership in our societies. Some of them are in business, they are church leaders etc. When communities are led and are full of people who do not fear God, they are led by the unwise and the results are what you thinking right now. Going to church is not the fear of God. Calling one a Christian is not the fear of God. Those who fear God will not sin willingly and boast about sin. People who fear God live a repentant life and value what God values.
We need also to teach Love. God is love. Love is the principle of life. Life cannot be lived in its fullness without the love for God, self, neighbour, others, and your enemies. The Bible encourages people to Love God with all their hearts, minds, souls and strength. It encourages people to love their neighbours as they love themselves. It encourages people to love their enemies. If we taught this and trained this attitude at home, our children will grow up into something godly and liberating. There shall be no tribalism or racism and no one would kill another person. I get shocked when I see babies, six years old, who are already tribalists or racists. This is a shame. Teach this generation love and tolerance. There is one humanity and one God. There are only two destinations for humanity to spend eternity and these are Heaven and Hell. There is no Hell for particular tribes or races. Hell is for all sinners black or white or coloured or whatever you call yourself. The same applies to Heaven, It is for those who have done the will of God and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. I mean, these are things we must be teaching our children and families.
Teach children principles of sound relationships. Teach them to value each person. Humanity is a valuable commodity. Nothing in the earth or heavens can equal the value of a person. A person’s value is the Blood of Jesus only. Teach children kindness towards humanity and their neighbours. The family has to produce a culture of goodness and righteousness.
Hear me well today. If Africa wants to turn this corner and know peace and development, let us put our houses in order first. Let us produce in our families what we desire for our communities. Let us heal the world by bringing God back into the family. I can tell you beloved, schools can try, but if the family is not initiating it, it will not work. Governments can try, but if the family is not spearheading it, it will fail. True love, true faith, hope, true respect, godly character, sincerity, purity, neignbourlines, kindness, wisdom and even development and success must be learnt at home. It is the duty of the family to train in these. The family must train these principles of life. We are never late as long as we are willing to. You are not late and I am not late. We can do it. All of us let us put God back in our families. We will overcome the world.
