The Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops Conference secretary-general, Father Tryvis Moyo has urged the Catholic faithful to live exemplary lives guided by faith.

Fr Moyo was speaking after Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s wife, Colonel Miniyothabo Chiwenga achieved the final level of the Marian Guild, marking her as a full member of the Catholic Church in Harare yesterday.

Last week, VP Chiwenga and five of their sons graduated to the second stage of the Catholic Guild.

“I think all we can say about the Vice President and his wife is that they are a good example of the Catholic faith,” said Father  Moyo.

“Faith is lived in the midst of all other things; busy as people are committed to other responsibilities, you always try to find time for God.”

Mr Gamuchirai Constantine Chiwenga, described his mother as a reservoir of wise counsel.

“We are happy for our beloved mother on this special day. She has positively touched our lives with love,” said Mr Chiwenga.

“Everyone in the family, including the old man (VP Chiwenga), is happy for our mother.

“We just wanted to express how much she means to us.”

His words were buttressed by the VP’s sister, Mrs Gertrude Chikazhe, who thanked her sister-in-law for taking good care of her brother (the VP) and described her as the glue that binds the family together.

  1. Is this newsworthy? In the face of God, there is no Vice President, and when we finally meet Him, the ground will be level. So let the word of God be treated without this “who is who” spirit. If it was just an ordinary person who had completed the convocation and became a full member of the Catholic Church, it wouldn’t have been newsworthy.
