There is more that binds us together than what divides us, and we need to focus on that, outgoing European Union Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Jobst Kirchmann, has said.
Ambassador Kirchmann was speaking after paying a courtesy call on Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga at his office in Harare this morning.
He highlighted the relationship that exists between Zimbabwe and the European Union, adding that both parties share common interests that can serve as a foundation for a stronger partnership moving forward.

Ambassador Kirchmann stressed the need for international relationships to focus on what unites rather than divides, pointing out the potential for positive cooperation in various sectors, including trade, health, and environmental sustainability.
“One thing that I am proud of is that in the past three years, trade increased by 30 percent,” said Ambassador Kirchmann.
“Foreign direct investment from Europe increased by 19 percent to $880 million per year, and I hope we will reach $1 billion in the next couple of years.
“We have a multifaceted relationship with Zimbabwe.
“If you have some areas you disagree on, that’s normal in a relationship, but you cannot only focus on these. We need to focus on what unites us,” said Ambassador Kirchmann.
