ZANU PF party structures and Government ministries must translate resolutions into tangible results that accelerate economic development, deepen empowerment and improve people’s living standards, Vice Presidents Dr Constantino Chiwenga and Dr Kembo Mohadi have said.
Addressing delegates at the party’s 23rd National People’s Conference in Chinhoyi yesterday, ZANU PF Second Secretary and Vice President Dr Chiwenga said attaining Vision 2030 would consolidate economic development and uplift the lives of ordinary people.
“Our collective resolve to attain Vision 2030 must be to consolidate economic development, uplift the living standards of the people and make them proud citizens of this country,” VP Chiwenga said.
He also paid tribute to the liberation fighters who died during the Chinhoyi Battle, saying the conference venue was a tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence.
“We gather here in Chinhoyi, a landscape deeply connected to our liberation struggle. The Chinhoyi Battle of 28 April 1966 marked a turning point in igniting the armed struggle against colonial rule,” he added.
“With boundless pride and solemn reverence, we remember the Seven ZANLA heroes who fought with fearless distinction and paid the ultimate price just a few kilometres from this venue.
“Their sacrifice was and is an indescribable backdrop of Zimbabwe’s independence, freedom, and sovereignty.”
In a speech read on his behalf by ZANU PF National Chairperson Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri at the conference yesterday, VP Mohadi said party structures and Government ministries must work collectively to achieve Vision 2030.
“The question we must now ask is not what we resolved, but what you have delivered. Every resolution leaving Chinhoyi must carry a clear corner and a timeline so that when we gather again, we report on the results and not intentions,” VP Mohadi said.
“This is the spirit in which we received your address.
“It is a charge to every structure of the party, every ministry, department, and agency to account for the work entrusted to it.
“It is also the spirit of our theme, ‘From Resolutions to Results: Consolidating Economic Development and Deepening Empowerment Towards Vision 2020’.”
VP Mohadi said party structures and Government ministries should preserve the gains made so far and ensure that the benefits of development reach the people.
He also commended President Mnangagwa’s leadership, saying it had contributed to economic growth and increased production across key sectors.
“Your Excellency, the results of your leadership are already before us. Production has been revived across key sectors and confidence in the ZIG continues to grow.
“These achievements have been recognised by the International Monetary Fund, which recorded growth of 8,3 percent in 2025 and projects 5 percent for 2026.
“We are already outpacing that projection, with the economy growing by 6,8 percent in the first quarter of this year.
“Equally significant is where new growth is coming. Your business-oriented policies have opened non-traditional sectors of our economy, from smart energy-led industries and the carbon credits market to digital, crypto systems, artificial intelligence in health and water quality monitoring.”
VP Mohadi also said the enactment of Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Act reflected ordinary Zimbabweans’ endorsement of President Mnangagwa’s leadership and the country’s development trajectory.
He said the party’s constitutional provisions must now be aligned with the recently enacted Constitutional Amendment Act.
