Editor — The sad news of prominent Bulawayo music producer Joe Maseko’s death has rocked the local music fraternity and have robbed the City of Kings of an iconic music producer who was the “producer” of music producers.
Most music producers and artistes passed through his hands and he helped shape Bulawayo music and he has left a big void which is hard to fill.
He was a humble and reclusive gentleman who made time for any musician in both sound engineering, producing or recording for free.
Maseko believed in perfection and sheer hard work and was very willing to impart knowledge to anyone at no cost.
Popular music producers such as South Africa based music artiste and producer DJ Face got a break from Maseko’s hands.
He will be greatly missed.
