Letters to the Editor: Thank you ‘Uncle Bob’ for the land

I REMEMBER a response by former president Robert Mugabe during an interview, when he asked; “unoda kuziva kuti pandirikunzwa kuda kusvika ndepapi? Zana.”

It is unfortunate that the Heavens have denied the old man to see his 100th birthday.

Rest in peace our elder.

While people have differing feelings about this man, what cannot be ignored is the fact that he played his part in bringing freedom to Zimbabwe.

It does not matter how much some people might want to delete him from the history books, we cannot deny him his national hero status.

He might have gone astray in the last days of his tenure, thanks to the criminals who were surrounding him, but the fact still remains, he did a lot for this country.

I am sure everyone who benefited from the land reform programme and fully utilised the land are indebted to Cde Bob to this day.

Taking our land back is one of the boldest moves ever made by an African leader and for that we say, thank you.

 Comrade Hondo Yeminda
