HEY everyone! It’s been a minute since we had a movie review in the Saturday Chronicle. It doesn’t mean nothing was happening. It’s been a massive year for films! We’ve seen some huge blockbusters hit the big screen, and I’ve been lucky enough to check out a few of the biggest. From the final instalment of a legendary franchise to a high-octane F1 flick and a seriously awesome action sequel, there’s been something for everyone. So, grab some popcorn, and let’s dive into some of the most talked-about movies of the year!
The Final Reckoning: Tom Cruise goes out with a bang
If you’re looking for a film that will literally have your heart in your mouth, you’ve found it with Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning. Tom Cruise is back as Ethan Hunt, and honestly, the guy just doesn’t know when to quit — which is great news for us! He’s still doing all his own insane stunts, and this time, he’s really outdone himself. From wild motorcycle chases to impossible aerial stunts, the action is non-stop and mind-blowing.

But what makes this film truly special is that it feels like a proper goodbye. It’s got all the explosions and craziness you expect, but it also has a real heart to it. It’s a satisfying end to a 30-year journey, and watching it, you can feel Cruise’s passion for the craft. Seriously, this is a must-see.
F1: The Movie — Get ready to shift gears
Rev your engines, everyone! If you’re a fan of high-speed thrills and some seriously good-looking people, then Apex: The Movie is for you. Starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, this film is an absolute blast from start to finish. The racing scenes are incredible — so realistic they’ll have you feeling like you’re right there in the car.
But it’s not all about speed. The movie does a great job of showing what it’s really like to be in the F1 world, from the friendships and rivalries to the pure dedication it takes to be a winner. It’s a thrilling ride with plenty of heart to go along with the horsepower.

Nobody 2: Bob Odenkirk is back to kick butt
Guess who’s back? Bob Odenkirk returns as the unlikely action hero in Nobody 2, and it’s just as much fun as the first one. This movie knows exactly what it is: a quick, punchy action flick that doesn’t mess around. It’s a breezy, action-packed thrill ride that’s perfect for a night in with a bag of popcorn.
Odenkirk’s character is still a man with a dark past who’s been pushed too far, and the film’s action is just as brutal and satisfying as before. It’s a fantastic watch if you’re looking for a film that’s all about fun, fast-paced action with no baggage. If you liked the original, you’re going to love this one.
