adminbrother, Vincent, the former Zimbabwe Saints, Motor Action and Underhill mentor died at his rural home of Igusu, Tsholotsho, on Sunday afternoon after vomiting continuously from Saturday night.
“Lindile left for our rural home with one of our brothers on Friday where they spent the whole day visiting relatives and viewing our fields.
“On Saturday night he started vomiting and it went on until the following morning when he was now vomiting blood before he was rushed to a nearby clinic where his condition deteriorated even further,” said Vincent.
He said the body was expected in Bulawayo yesterday for a post-mortem, saying burial was most likely going to be on Wednesday.
Passing his message of condolences, the Zimbabwe Soccer Coaches Association secretary Oscar Mazhambe said Dube’s death had left a void.
“We have lost one of the most senior members of the coaching fraternity who had done a lot for this region in terms of promoting teams to the Premiership, it’s really shocking and sad. Year 2011 has not been a good year for us as coaches as we have lost a lot of members,” said Mazhambe.
Sports Writers Association of Zimbabwe secretary-general, Lovemore Dube, said Lindile has left behind a proud legacy that will be difficult to fill.
“I would like to pass our sincere condolences to his family especially his wife and kids,” said Dube.
The nomadic coach had stints with Zesa (Munyati) before being appointed assistant coach to Ashton “Papa” Nyazika at Masvingo United in 2001.
Dube has a proud record of guiding two teams from Division One into the elite Premier Soccer League in two successive years. He was at the helm when Beitbridge side Underhill were promoted into the
Premiership in 2006. A year later, he led Zimbabwe Saints into the Premiership before brief stints with Motor Action.
Lindile is survived by a wife and four kids and mourners are gathered at House Number 1152, Old Luveve, Bulawayo.
