Liquid Chef – Chibuku in Bulawayo to promote banana-flavoured traditional brew

Peter Matika
DELTA Beverages in partnership with the Liquid Chef Extraordinaire, born James Muparutsa are in Bulawayo today to promote one of the company’s brews under the Chibuku flagship.
It was on Thursday afternoon while I was trying to chase a deadline that I got an unexpected call from the Liquid Chef telling me that he will be in the city today to promote the drink at the Stop Over Bar in the CBD.
“My man, how are you . . . It has been quite some time. Listen, I will be in Bulawayo with the Delta team to promote one of our brands, the Chibuku banana flavour. So you should come and have a peak at what we will have, there will be various cocktails and drinks but the main drink for the event will be the Chibuku Super banana flavour,” said the Liquid Chef.
He said the event will be coupled with fresh entertainment from various DJs and the award winning Afro deep, ancestral house musicians Djembe Monks.
I guess this is not an event to miss and well, I am not much of a Chibuku fan but I guess it won’t hurt to try out the brew, after all this one is banana flavoured.
“So we will make a few blends with the brew and believe me this will blow your mind out! I have already come up with a Chibuku cocktail before, the Creamy Superula Cocktail. I have sent you the recipe before but it will not hurt to bring it out again.
Get yourself a 350ml Chibuku Super, a flavour of your choice but banana flavour will surely whip out the taste. Then add 70mls of Amarula Cream, add a scoop of softened vanilla ice cream and then garnish it with coffee granules.”
“Thereafter use a 500ml glass or disposable clear cups, pour your Chibuku first and then add Amarula.
Then use a spoon to pour the dissolved ice cream making sure it spreads evenly on top of your mix.
Garnish with the coffee granules and then stir before you drink,” said the Liquid Chef.
Like I mentioned before, I am yet to try it, but I guess this cocktail would go down well with those who prefer Chibuku over the conventional cocktails that are adorned with different types of whiskies, gins, vodkas, spirits, juices and liqueurs.
Anyway, I hope to meet you today at the Stop Over for a swig of one of Zimbabwe’s finest mixologist’s drinks.
Till next week, have a blissful and tipsy weekend.
