1552: Zanu PF Vice President Cde Kembo Mohadi is now giving the Vote of Thanks.
1549: “As we go for elections we should all shun violence because Zanu PF is a peaceful party,” he says as he concludes his speech.
1546: “We heard your grievances through your leaders and we are addressing them.”
1544: The President says the Second Republic has fulfilled many of its promises.
“We resolved the fuel crisis, we resolved electricity shortages. After Hwange Units 7 and 8, we are building more power stations and as we speak we no longer have load shedding. In a short period of time, we have grown our agriculture from a US$3,8 billion industry to US$8 billion. We transformed mining from US$3,7 billion to over US$12 billion using what we have in this country.
“As a Zimbabwean change your mindset and start producing locally. We should not rely on imports and I know our people are talented and sharp, they are coming up with innovations to produce locally. In the upcoming elections vote the opposition out of urban councils. They are running down our cities and towns. The youth are our future. But that future will not be secure if our young people keep on taking drugs. To our candidates, including those that lost in primaries I say remain united and work for the victory of the party as we approach elections,”
1527: “Through these programmes, Zimbabwe will never be food insecure again,” says the President.
1524: President Mnangagwa says, “The Second Republic’s main priority is to bust sanctions through producing for ourselves. We are doing this through various programs such as pfumvudza.”
1520: “Zanu PF will never return the land to colonialists,” he says.
1517: President Mnangagwa says that the democracy and one man one vote that we enjoy today came as a result of Zanu PF.
1515: “This is why we decided to launch our campaign here in honour of Cde Sithole.”
1514: “That’s why we decided to honour founding president Ndabaningi Sithole,” he says.
1512: President Mnangagwa says that Manicaland produced many revolutionaries like Rekayi Tangwena and Herbert Chitepo and we honoured them.
1511: “The Second Republic has fulfilled its promise to equip St Peter’s Hospital,” he says.
1510: “ZANU PF belongs to the masses not individuals or leaders,” says the President
1507: President Mnangagwa says Zanu PF is the only Party which can protect Zimbabwe’s independence and sovereignty.
1459: President Mnangagwa takes to the podium.
1424: National Political Commissar Cde Bimha says Zanu PF is uncontested in 74 local Government seats. A total of 2743 candidates have attended the campaign launch rally.
1406: Zanu PF Manicaland Chairperson Tawanda Mukodza takes to the podium. He thanks the President for granting Zanu PF founding President Ndabaningi Sithole hero status. All Zanu PF Manicaland Province candidates successfully filed their nomination papers.
1337: The President and his two deputies are now meeting and greeting supporters.
1300: Zanu PF First Secretary and President Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has arrived for the launch.
1234: Vice President Cde Constantino Chiwenga has arrived at the venue.
1215: Zanu PF Vice President Cde Kembo Mohadi, chairman Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri and National Political Commissar Cde Mike Bimha have arrived at the venue.
1154: President Mnangagwa is also set to launch a number of Presidential schemes here in Chipinge. These include Goats, Poultry, Inputs, Nutritious gardens and Boreholes in line with the rural industrialisation agenda.
1138: Several party and senior Government officials have arrived here at Mutema Secondary School. Candidates are also represented in their numbers.
1123: Scores of Zanu PF supporters from the country’s 10 provinces have thronged Mutema Secondary School in Chipinge, Manicaland Province for the official launch of the Zanu PF 2023 Elections Campaign.
