A BIZARRE incident unfolded yesterday along Jason Moyo Avenue in Harare’s Central Business District when a live dog was found inside a suitcase.

A man, who was minding his business in the CBD, noticed some movement from within the suitcase.

He bravely opened it amid concerns from other witnesses that it could be a goblin.  To their astonishment, a dog, tied with a rope, emerged from the suitcase.

A vendor, who witnessed the event, recalled seeing a man wearing a sports jersey, with the number 23 at the back, abandoning the suitcase.

“I saw a man leave this suitcase and we were all shocked when it began to move,” she said.

Some of the people looking at the dog and the suitcase

“Rangarichifema saka pane murume aitachivindi akarivhura imbwa ndokubuda.

“There were also some clothes inside the suitcase and we can’t understand why anyone would place a live dog in there.”

Scores of people gathered, some taking photographs while others speculated about a possible connection to witchcraft.

The dog, however, remained calm and close to the suitcase, showing no signs of fear despite the commotion.

The incident not only raised eyebrows but also highlighted concerns about animal welfare.

Others speculated that the bag could have been stolen and was dumped by a thief.
