Liverpool to beef up strikeforce . . . eye on Crystal Palace’s Ismaila Sarr

Liverpool have checked on a deal for Crystal Palace forward Ismaila Sarr, though any move looks unlikely as it stands.

The Anfield club have been assessing different opportunities in the market as they look to add two attacking players before Tuesday. They have not made an offer for Sarr as it stands.

Talks are ongoing for Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola but discussions for Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh are proving difficult with the Gambia international being valued at £80m when Liverpool initially thought offers around £50m would suffice.

They have subsequently been looking at alternatives.
Sarr has a proven Premier League track record, even though at 28 he is older than the usual profile

Galatasaray had an offer around £35m rejected by Palace last week and Al Hilal have also shown an interest.

However, Palace’s concern is finding a quality replacement at this stage and they will not do a deal unless they have one in place. They also anticipate further interest from Aston Villa and Juventus for Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are yet to receive any official approaches for attacking duo Harvey Elliott or Federico Chiesa – but the club are willing to listen to offers for the duo this week.

All attention is on which forwards will join the club, but Anfield transfer chiefs also have the futures of several current high-profile stars on their to-do list. And neither Chiesa nor Elliott were part of the squad for the Premier League opener at Newcastle.

With multiple clubs in England and on the continent scrambling to get players – and replacing ones that leave – there is expected to be activity and Liverpool have not ruled out clubs getting in touch regarding the pair. Sources in Italy have ruled out a number of top clubs in the hunt for Chiesa, a

Euros winner. Atalanta, Como and Inter have previously shown interest, though.— dailymail.com
