A shocking case of alleged harassment has come to light in Makokoba, Bulawayo where an elderly couple says they have been subjected to several years of torment by their neighbour.
Fabi Nyathi Chimbwanda (63) and Peter Chimbwanda (66) allege that they have endured constant threats and intimidation, leaving them feeling vulnerable in their own home.
“Ever since I started staying in this house my life has been made horrible by my neighbour who always sends thieves to threaten my life. She sent her children to vandalise my house,” said Nyathi Chimbwanda.
The alleged hostile neighbour was once arrested for the offence.
“It breaks my heart because I don’t even know this woman and I have to live in fear in my own home. I can’t even go to the bathroom at night as sometimes there will be guys sent by her to my yard promising to kill me and my wife. This other day they wanted to stab my wife,” he said.
The elderly couple makes a living by picking up cans for recycling.
