Liyema Pantsi joins Netflix’s star-studded series Bad Influencer

Award-winning artist and influencer Liyema Pantsi has shared some exciting news with her fans − she’s joining the cast of Netflix’s upcoming series, Bad Influencer.

Taking to Instagram, Liyema posted behind-the-scenes moments from her time on set, showing herself in the makeup room having fun trying on different wigs. She couldn’t hide her excitement as she teased her Netflix debut.

She wrote, “Oh nothing. Just part of the Netflix #badinfluencer gang. I probably have the background scenes but it don’t matter lol!!! I’m on Netflix.”

Liyema revealed that while filming was exciting, the wig testing process wasn’t exactly easy. “Trying wigs on was the most fun and stressful part, sana,” she shared. In one clip, she tried on an afro wig that she wasn’t too fond of, joking, “Looked like hair but no. Not an Afro wig on Netflix bandla. Maybe for the next character next year.”

Ending her reflection with excitement, she wrote, “Okay done reflecting. We have a date. Let’s be glued on 31 October.”

Bad Influencer is one of Netflix’s most anticipated local releases of 2025. The series stars Jo-Anne Reyneke as BK, a small-time con artist and single mother who partners with Cindy Mahlangu, playing Pinky − an ambitious influencer.

Together, they start selling fake luxury handbags online, but their hustle quickly spirals out of control. Their operation attracts the attention of a ruthless crime boss and the police, forcing them into a dangerous game of survival.

The series also features well-known South African stars Relebogile Mabotja, Masasa Mbangeni, Zikhona Sodlaka, and Tina Jaxa. Viewers can also expect cameo appearances from popular influencers Mihlali Ndamase, Sarah Langa, and Mohale Motaung. Interestingly, this will be Sarah Langa’s second Netflix appearance.

According to Netflix, the seven-episode drama is set in a world obsessed with appearances, where two women live double lives − one online and one in the criminal underworld.

Bad Influencer Season 1 premieres on 31 October 2025, only on Netflix − OK.
