Morale is high ahead of the Zimbabwe Music Awards ceremony set for the Harare International Conference Centre on Thursday this week.

Musicians and others in the entertainment industry, including designers, are excited about the often glamorous event.

Ghanaian reggae artiste Blakk Rasta is set to headline the event.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, one of the red carpet hosts, Gilmore Tee promised a world class event saying they were doing all they could to ensure Zimbabwean musicians were dressed for the occasion.

“We are doing our best to have people looking good and our intention is for designers and musicians to link up for the good of the industry,” Gilmore said.

He said gone were the days when artistes used to categorise themselves according to genre saying it’s high time that they came together under one banner.

“Previously artists used to say I am a musician while designers said I am a designer not knowing that what they did worked hand in hand.

“For instance when you are a musician you want to perform, you do that while dressed by a designer.

“The same applies to a designer who goes on stage to showcase her designs, while background music is playing. The two need each other and that is what we will be doing at this year’s edition of the Zimbabwe Music Awards,” he said.
