A ZIMBABWEAN football club coach based in South Africa has finally completed writing his football research book which he started penning five years ago.
Vusumuzi Mathwasa Ndlovu of Kezi, Matabeleland South province started writing his research book titled Tales of the Beautiful Game with an intention of researching on football. He said the book’s aim is to educate people on the history, rules and development of football.
Since 2020, the father of two who relocated to South Africa in 2006, has been working as a football coach at Joga Bonito Football Club.
“The book covers many topics and among them is the press box which defines football jargon. I dedicate this book to those who met their fate serving this beautiful game. There’s a topic about the unfortunate incidents that have affected the game,” said Ndlovu.

He said there are always two sides to the coin.
“We have witnessed some tainting the game with scandals while some have done very well and all that is covered in the book,” said Ndlovu.
He said the book is meant to teach people about the game.
The soccer coach, analyst, scout, writer and vlogger who co-owns a publishing company in the neighbouring country, says the book will be available on Amazon and as a hard copy soon.
Ndlovu, who, during his research, visited and spoke to some Highlanders FC players in Zimbabwe, Pirates and Sundowns FC football legends, says in a bid to make his research book more detailed and informative, read books written by famous football academics who include Michael Cox.
“I faced serious challenges when I was trying to get information from football legends and coaches among other individuals. It’s very hard to get information and permission to get hold of some people when you are not yet famous. At times I used to call and email sources who in turn did not respond,” he said.
Ndlovu, who said he has four books in the pipeline, said he visited a number of football clubs so as to engage football legends and gather information.
“Major clubs featured in the book are those who have won the Uefa Champions League including clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Man City.”
Popularly known as Vusmann on social media, Ndlovu did Journalism and Media Studies at Intec College in South Africa and got his football education from the Scottish Football Association. — @KarubwaTicha
