Local industrialist champions unified community security framework

IN a boost to public-private civic collaboration, prominent community builder Dr Angie Nyatanga, managing director of Jacaranda Textiles, has anchored her company’s corporate support behind the ZRP District Crime Liaison Committee Training Workshop.

Dr Nyatanga, an active and visible grassroots leader, confirmed that the intervention was a direct extension of her ongoing civic work as a dedicated member of the Borrowdale Residents and Ratepayers Association (BRRA).

The move underscores a growing trend of corporate executives stepping out of boardrooms to personally drive local security and infrastructure initiatives.

“Security is a shared ecosystem; we cannot build thriving communities or sustainable businesses in isolation,” Dr Nyatanga said.

“When a major employer stands hand in hand with law enforcement and local residents, it sends an unmistakable message of absolute unity and vigilance. Our presence is a commitment to the long-term safety of the environment where our employees work and our families live.”

A bridge Between Business and Civic Duty

As a noted community builder in her own right, Dr Nyatanga has long advocated for unified community voices through the BRRA. By aligning Jacaranda Textiles with the ZRP DCLC initiatives, she aims to create a blueprint for how local commerce can actively protect and uplift the socio-economic fabric of Harare Wards.

The visible partnership is designed to foster deep trust among local stakeholders, deter criminal activity through heightened corporate presence and inspire other corporate citizens to transition from passive by-standers to active Community guardians.

Dr Nyatanga extended her appreciation to ZRP officers and Committee volunteers, while challenging fellow commercial leaders and residents to take direct ownership of their streets.
