AFRIGNITE Smart Solutions, a Zimbabwean artificial intelligence firm, will on Saturday host the first of several planned artificial intelligence seminars in Harare to equip young people with the mindset, skills and tools to transform ideas into practical, AI-powered solutions to real-world challenges.Held in recognition of Robert Mugabe Youth Day, the ‘Innovation Lab’ positions youth not as job-seekers, but as problem-solvers, innovators and future solution builders aligned with Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 and Smart Zimbabwe agenda.

Saturday’s innovation lab seminar will run under the theme, “The future belongs to those who can turn ideas into solutions”.

In a statement, AfrIgnite said the initiative seeks to move young people beyond theoretical learning and empower them with hands-on competencies.

“The AfrIgnite Innovation Lab aims to build practical innovation and problem-solving capacity among youth; introduce AI as a tool for solution design, not just consumption; and encourage young people to think critically about local challenges and opportunities,” reads part of the statement.

The organisation said the seminar will also serve as a gateway to more advanced opportunities for participants.

“We intend to create a pipeline into advanced training, mentorship and solution deployment, while showcasing Zimbabwean youth innovation to the media, partners and institutions,” the statement added.

AfrIgnite said the programme forms part of broader efforts to position Zimbabwean youths at the forefront of emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, which is rapidly reshaping industries and economies across the globe.

The organisers believe that empowering young innovators with practical AI skills can enhance local problem-solving capacity and contribute meaningfully to national development.
