Locally-based quartet in Warriors First 11

WARRIORS’ coach Baltemar Brito has made some bold decisions in picking his starting 11 for the opening 2026 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda at Huye Stadium this afternoon.

The match kicks-off at 3pm.

Four locally-based players including goalkeeper Donovan Bernard, defender Andrew Mbeba, midfielder Brian Banda and forward Walter Musona have all been given starting berths.

The Portuguese gaffer has mixed both the tried and tested as well as those whom he has strong belief in.

Mbeba, Gerald Takwara, Teenage Hadebe and Divine Lunga form the four man defence in a 4-3-3 structure which will see captain Marvelous Nakamba, Marshal Munetsi and Banda playing in midfied while Walter Musona, Prince Dube and Admiral Muskwe will be searching goals in attack.

Udinese star Jordan Zemura who arrived in Rwanda this morning as well as Tino Kadewere will start on the bench.
