adminComputer Society of Zimbabwe president, who is also Computer Suppliers Association chairperson, Mr Artwell Mukusha, said empowerment laws that the Government promulgated made it possible for locals to enter the sector.
“We thank Government for making it possible for us to be players in ICTs through the indigenisation laws and other necessary measures,” he said.
“Some international ICT firms like Vodacom wanted to invade Zimbabwe but they were denied access which is why we are here today with our fair share.”
Mr Mukusha said establishment of a ministry dedicated to ICTs proved the commitment of Government to develop the sector.
“We used to have ICTs under another ministry but now there is one that looks into that and it has made great strides in promoting the involvement of locals in recent years.
“Most of the major economies are putting their main thrust on ICTs which the Government is doing for us,” he said.
He said the indigenous players should always thrive to offer quality as this gives them credibility.
“Local players need to raise their game to the best business practice internationally so as to offer quality service,” he said.
In developed countries ICTs have enhanced most business activities through improving efficiency. — New Ziana.
