BULAWAYO’s Large City Hall and Plumtree’s Chicken King Bar are set to play host to the late South African gospel and disco musician Dan Tshanda’s life celebration on Friday and Saturday respectively.
Dan Tshanda succumbed to heart failure on January 5, 2019.

The event, being brought to life by Desire Moyo’s Moyoxide Ideation will see a host of different artistes coming together in song and dance to celebrate Tshanda’s legacy. It will be held under the theme,
“Estokveleni – Celebrating Dan Tshanda Legacy”.
Artistes expected to perform at the event include Dalom Kids, Peacock, Montana, African Seed, Lady P, Simunye Simunye, DJ Sweeto and MC MaOo. The local acts were picked from the Eziko Theatre Laboratory initiative.
The inaugural jamboree on Saturday will feature Simunye Simunye Arts, Lady P and Sweeto the DJ while the full complement will converge in Bulawayo a day later.

Tshanda, who had a huge following in Zimbabwe rose to fame with the band Splash in the 1980s, and together, they released classic albums such as Peacock (1986), Snake (1987), Money (1988),
Tshokotshoko (1989), Ndosala (1996) and Shanduka (2019).
Moyoxide Ideation’s director, Moyo said the idea is to merge collaborations among local and international acts.

“We’re ready to give the people of our city and region good times as experienced back in the day. We’re new in this events promotion business, but our roots run deep in the grassroots local performing artistes. Thus, we’re here to rise with zillions of local artistes, step by step alongside heavyweights who have greatly contributed to our entertainment lifestyles as a people in Bulawayo and the region as a whole,” Moyo said while inviting people to attend the events in their numbers.

Moyoxide Ideations has been a creative village for many projects in the city and beyond and has brought ideas like Victory Siyanqoba and Eziko Theatre Laboratory. – @eMKlass_49
