A BULAWAYO couple with a taste for designer highs is set to appear in court today after being busted with a stash of high-grade drugs in what police believe is part of a growing urban drug syndicate.
Darian-Lee Kevin Lloyd Jackson (31) and Lakin Lee Robinson (32) were arrested in dramatic fashion by CID Drugs and Narcotics detectives on 13 July in the city centre, following a tip-off.
The raid led officers to the couple’s West Somerton residence, where a luxury drug menu fit for a cartel was discovered, from cocaine sachets to exotic cannabis strains that sound more like a dessert list than illegal substances.
Police recovered varieties including Cheese, Dosidos, Gush Mint, Sunset Sherbet, Oreo, Hot Cake, Blue Cheese, Gary Payton, and Grape Gas, along with loose dagga.
“These drugs were found in the couple’s vehicle and later during a search at their home,” confirmed national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
The arrest has sent shockwaves through the leafy West Somerton suburb, where neighbours expressed disbelief that a couple next door was allegedly running a drug operation under their noses.
As the suspects prepare to face the courts, police say investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the network.
The streets just got a little less hazy.
