INDIA’S Lovely Professional University (LPU) has launched its Zimbabwe Alumni Chapter, marking an important step towards strengthening the university’s alumni engagement and educational connect locally.
Speaking at the event to formally introduce the LPU Zimbabwe Alumni Chapter and its office bearers including the president, vice president and secretary in Harare on Saturday, India Ambassador to Zimbabwe His Excellency Shri Bramha Kumar who was the Guest of Honour emphasised the important role of education in strengthening the longstanding and friendly relations between the two countries.
“Education is a relationship that goes beyond bilateral relations, trade and economic engagements.
“It creates a deeper and more meaningful connection between people and nations.
“The students who have received their education in India are not only building their own futures; they are also contributing to the growth and development of Zimbabwe. “They are living examples of the lasting value of India–Zimbabwe educational cooperation,” he said.
Amb Kumar highlighted education as a vital bridge between Zimbabwe and India, creating opportunities for knowledge sharing, capacity building, academic cooperation and people-to-people connections.
He spoke about the evolution of India’s higher education system, highlighting the growing international outlook of Indian universities and the opportunities available to students across diverse fields, including technology, innovation, research, entrepreneurship and professional education.
Amb Kumar stressed the importance of India–Zimbabwe educational cooperation, including scholarships, capacity-building initiatives, academic linkages and institutional collaboration.
He said students who study in India and subsequently contribute to their communities play an important role in strengthening the bonds between the two countries.
LPU deputy director and head of International Recruitment Division of International Affairs Mr Manish Kumar Aery expressed his gratitude to His Excellency for gracing the occasion and inaugurating the LPU Zimbabwe Alumni Chapter.
Mr Aery highlighted the importance of creating a structured platform for LPU alumni in Zimbabwe, enabling them to remain connected with their alma mater, engage with fellow alumni and contribute towards strengthening educational and professional relationships between India and Zimbabwe.
The alumni shared their experiences and memories of their time at Lovely Professional University and expressed their enthusiasm for remaining connected with the university through the newly established chapter.
The LPU Zimbabwe Alumni Chapter will provide a platform for continued alumni engagement, professional networking, academic interaction and stronger people-to-people connections between LPU and Zimbabwe.
The event concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthen India–Zimbabwe educational cooperation and people-to-people relations through education, alumni engagement and academic collaboration.
