LUPANE State University (LSU) has postponed its 10th graduation ceremony which was scheduled for today to November 15, to pave way for the Sadc Solidarity Day against illegal Western sanctions on Zimbabwe.

The Government declared today a public holiday to allow Zimbabweans to join hands in the call for the removal of illegal sanctions imposed by Western countries.

Sadc recently declared October 25 a solidarity day against sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe, and today Sadc countries will hold events to show their displeasure at the illegal economic embargo.

President Mnangagwa, who is the Head of State and Government, Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces as well as Chancellor of all State Universities, will be officiating at the national anti-sanctions march in Harare hence the postponement of the graduation ceremony.

LSU director of marketing and communication Mr Zwelithini Dlamini said the ceremony would now be held on November 15.

“We are preparing for our graduation which had initially been set for October 25 but the date coincided with the national anti-sanctions march. The graduation ceremony will now be held on November 15,” said Mr Dlamini.

He said upwards of 900 students will be graduating with degrees and diplomas in various programmes. @ncubeleon
