All eyes are on Lyshanda Moyas, the reigning Miss Universe Zimbabwe, as she prepares to represent the nation in Thailand this November.
Moyas is expected to leave Zimbabwe next month for the Miss Universe bootcamp in Thailand ahead of the finale to be held at Impact Arena, Exhibition and Convention Centre, Muang Thong Than.
Her striking short-hair look has been trending on social media, with fans declaring it her best style yet.
“My short hair was not just a style it was a statement. It became a stunning trademark and a reflection of the diversity I can embody.
“It’s a statement of confidence, power and authenticity,” she said, underlining her intention to make an impact on the global stage.
Since being crowned, Moyas has committed herself to intense preparations.
She has been hitting the gym to sculpt her body to international standards, shedding weight while maintaining her elegance.
Alongside fitness, she has been training to refine her runway walk and stage presence, determined to show the world a polished and powerful performance.
Her rise has been anything but sudden. Moyas has been part of Zimbabwe’s modelling and pageantry scene for years, quietly honing her craft before finally clinching the Miss Universe Zimbabwe crown.
With her experience, confidence and resilience, many believe she is well-positioned to follow in the footsteps of her predecessor, Sakhile Dube, and perhaps restore Zimbabwe’s long-lost glory on the Miss Universe stage.
The stakes are high and anticipation is building.
Before her departure, the Miss Universe Zimbabwe organisation will host a glamorous send-off in her honour this Sunday at Mbare Grills. The event, themed an “all-white affair,” is set to bring together music, fashion and national pride.
Top musicians Jah Prayzah, ChillMaster and Delroy among others, will headline the entertainment, while celebrated media personality MisRed will serve as master of ceremony.
The occasion is expected to be both a celebration of Moyas’ journey and a show of solidarity as she prepares to face the world.
As November draws closer, one question lingers: will Lyshanda Moyas bring back the crown and reclaim Zimbabwe’s place at Miss Universe?
For now, she carries with her the nation’s hopes, its pride and its belief in her ability to shine.
Moyas said she is more than ready.
“As human beings, we are never fully prepared for what lies ahead, because the future always carries its uncertainties.”
“However, I am preparing diligently, and by the time I arrive in Thailand, I know we will be more than ready,” she said.
“The journey to Thailand has me on the edge of my seat with excitement. Beyond the glamour, what excites me most is the chance to represent my beloved Zimbabwe on a global stage.”
“As an ambassador, I carry with me the story of a nation that offers so much — an attractive investment destination, a world-class tourism and hospitality hub and a country rich in cultural heritage. To share these untold stories with the world is both an honour and a responsibility.”
Moyas said her journey is fuelled by patriotism and the spirit of Ubuntu.
“It is not one I walk alone — it is made possible by the unwavering support from Miss Universe Zimbabwe organisation. Their dedication and tireless efforts have been instrumental in every milestone we celebrate on this road to Miss Universe.”
Sharing her experience so far as the queen, Moyas said, “My experience so far has been nothing short of an unforgettable cocktail of events and experiences.
“Each day comes with its own challenges, and through them I continue to grow. I believe we are all lifelong students and life itself, with its daily lessons, has been my greatest teacher. These challenges have shaped my character, enhanced my brand and image development, and taught me how to navigate the business space, build relationships and collaborate effectively with brands.”
The lanky model said that, in terms of preparing for her projects, there is still so much more to look forward to, from outreach programmes to personal projects and truly transformative community engagements.
“I am passionate about supporting teen mothers and expectant mothers by giving them access to essential specialist services such as ultrasound scans.”
“These services are key to reducing maternal deaths and stillbirths caused by unattended complications during pregnancy. Beyond that, I am committed to driving broader community development initiatives that align with SDG Goal 9, ensuring sustainable growth and innovation within our communities,” she said.
