Following the success of his recent release Sadza Rakashisha, Zimbabwean Soulful Shona-Trap artiste M.G HKh is preparing to unveil a new single titled Damaged Thoughts, set for release on August 14.
The Harare-based rapper and songwriter, born Prince Peter Moyo, shifts from the uplifting and energetic themes of Sadza Rakashisha to a more introspective narrative that explores mental resilience, emotional struggles and the journey towards healing.
Produced by bigboybeats93, Damaged Thoughts combines atmospheric trap production with M.G HKh’s signature blend of soulful melodies and Shona lyricism.
The track delves into the complexities of the human mind, tackling themes of vulnerability, self-reflection and personal growth.
The single also features Isolucci on backing vocals, while Dollar HE closes the song with a powerful spoken-word outro that reinforces its central message of hope and resilience.
Speaking ahead of the release, M.G HKh said the song reflects a side of his artistry that listeners have not fully experienced.
“Damaged Thoughts is about confronting the battles we often fight in silence. Everyone carries thoughts shaped by pain, disappointment and life’s experiences, but those struggles don’t have to define us.
The song encourages people to acknowledge those emotions while finding the strength to move forward,” he said.
The new offering follows the warm reception of Sadza Rakashisha, a track that celebrated perseverance, hard work and the everyday hustle through the artiste’s distinctive Soulful Shona-Trap sound.
While his previous single delivered an upbeat anthem centred on resilience, M.G HKh said Damaged Thoughts presents a more vulnerable perspective.
“Every project tells a different chapter of my story. Sadza Rakashisha celebrated perseverance and energy, while Damaged Thoughts explores what happens behind closed doors when you’re alone with your thoughts. I wanted listeners to know that vulnerability is also a form of strength,” he said.
The artiste has continued to carve out a niche by fusing contemporary trap production with authentic storytelling rooted in everyday Zimbabwean experiences.
His earlier release, No Pressure, accumulated more than 50 000 organic streams on Spotify, while Sadza Rakashisha gained international recognition after premiering through Canada’s V13 Media Group, helping expand his audience beyond Zimbabwe.
Damaged Thoughts serves as a precursor to his forthcoming project, Broken Chemistry, which is expected later this year.
