Local rapper and songwriter M.G Hkh, born Prince Peter Moyo, is turning up the heat with the release of his latest single, “Sadza Rakashisha“, a high-energy soulful Shona-Trap anthem celebrating the resilience, determination and hustle of ordinary people striving to make a living.
Ahead of its worldwide release on June 15, the track secured an exclusive premiere with the Canadian digital culture and entertainment publication V13 Media Group, marking another significant international milestone for the Harare-based artiste.

Explaining the inspiration behind the song’s title, M.G Hkh said “Sadza Rakashisha” carries a deeper meaning than its literal translation.
“While the literal translation refers to hot or slightly burnt sadza, in urban slang it describes something that brings serious heat, intensity and unstoppable energy. For me, the title represents the relentless hustle, resilience and hard work required to push forward through everyday life,” he said.
The release follows the success of his previous single, “No Pressure“, which amassed more than 50 000 organic streams on Spotify. While “No Pressure” carried a reflective and reassuring message, the rapper said his latest offering takes a more energetic approach without abandoning the storytelling that has become his trademark.

“”No Pressure” was a grounded anthem about keeping your head clear and resisting negative societal pressures.
“Sadza Rakashisha” raises the intensity with a faster-paced, high-energy sound while still retaining the introspective storytelling that defines my music,” he said.
Widely recognised as the pioneer of Soulful Shona-Trap, M.G Hkh believes that embracing local language and culture is essential to building a meaningful and globally relevant music career.
“To build a global brand, you have to remain rooted in your authentic identity. Incorporating the Shona language and local cultural nuances is not just about rhyming words. It is about preserving our heritage and speaking directly to the hearts of people who live these experiences every day,” he said.
The artiste described the V13 Media Group premiere as a breakthrough moment not only for himself, but also for independent Zimbabwean musicians seeking international recognition.
“An international premiere with a platform like V13 Media Group is a massive milestone. It proves that independent, structured artistry can break geographical barriers without losing its roots. It also shows that our local sub-genres deserve a place in the global music conversation,” he said.

Reflecting on the success of “No Pressure“, M.G Hkh said the experience reinforced the importance of remaining authentic.
“The biggest lesson from “No Pressure” was that authenticity resonates. People connect deeply with genuine stories about the hustle, perseverance and mental resilience, and we carried that same approach into the rollout of Sadza Rakashisha,” he said.
Produced by his long-time collaborator Tony Vic, the track blends hard-hitting trap 808s with soulful melodies and reflective lyricism, creating a sound that is both energetic and thought-provoking.
Away from music, M.G Hkh balances his recording career with his profession as a certified Class Three automobile electrician, often writing and developing music after work.
Looking ahead, the rapper revealed that fans can expect a major project titled “Broken Chemistry” later this year, alongside new collaborations, live performances and community workshops aimed at helping independent artistes understand digital music tools and distribution systems.
