Mabelreign hockey team off to SA

HARARE. – All is set for the Mabelreign Girls High Hockey team to leave for a tournament in South Africa from May 2-9 at Jeppe High School for Girls in Johannesburg. A total of 25 Under -4 and 16 players and five staff members will make up the team to play against a number of girls’ schools in South Africa.The hockey team is also preparing itself through the Friday league indoor matches to make sure they are fit for the tournament. The team has so far lost only one game in all the games they have played so far. The team has also been taking part in other local tournaments such as the Golden Girls Hockey.

In their maiden appearance at the South African tournament last year, Mabelreign Girls were the only Government school and came out an impressive seventh position the 14 schowols that were taking part in the event.

Under-16 hockey captain Rufaro Nyawoda said they were so excited to be going to SA and this would give them more exposure to the game. – Cool Writer.
