Fast-rising Afro-pop musician Macala Macala is set to take his music beyond Zimbabwe after being announced as one of the performers at this year’s Moto Moto Festival.

Now in its third edition, the festival will be held in Cologne, Germany, on July 25. Other artistes on the line-up include Munya Mataruse, Mbeu and the Mhonzi Tribe, Tendai Mavengeni, and Shangara Music.

The event will also feature the Ecobank Legends Night movement, led by the In-Total Band, adding a nostalgic touch to the showcase.

Founded in July 2024 by Zimbabwean arts curator Plot Mhako, Moto Moto Festival celebrates African creativity, culture, and music. The festival, whose name means “Fire Fire” in Shona, aims to build a cultural bridge between Africa and Europe through live performances, traditional cuisine, and visual art.

Last year’s edition featured artistes such as Feli Nandi and Mokoomba, drawing a strong audience and reinforcing the festival’s growing reputation as a platform for cultural exchange. More artistes are expected to be announced in due course.
