AFRO pop musician Chido Machanzi has expanded her horizons after making a surprise appearance at the Zimbabwe Fashion week.
In an interview, Machanzi said she has always wanted to be a fashion model but never had an opportunity presented to her.
She also said the Zimbabwe’s fashion industry has the potential to grow and compete with other international brands as there is room for creativity.
“Walking down the runway has always been a dream of mine and when I made it to the fashion week it made me feel full.
“I’d like to take this as my second home now outside the music arena.
“I was very nervous when I first walked but the crowd and my team gave me the courage to overcome my fears and see this as a platform to empower myself as well as young women in Zimbabwe.
“Our industry has a lot of potential. I saw amazing designs that can compete with other international acclaimed brands.
“There is need to invest in this industry and promote our local brands and fabrics. It starts with us then it spreads across the continent and the rest of the world at large.
“It is my greatest hope that this is not my last walk but a stepping stone into venturing into other side of art as I cannot rely on one aspect for sustenance,” said Machanzi
