After successfully releasing his 13th album titled Kupa Kuturika last month at a sold-out event at Harare’s Alex Sports Club, renowned Sungura legend, Alick Macheso is set to launch his latest project in Matabeleland.

Baba Shero as Macheso is affectionately known amongst his legion of fans, will launch the album with performances at Bulawayo’s Palace Hotel and Beitbridge’s Pagomba Café on September 20 and 21 respectively.

This is the end trip to be made by Macheso this year – both in the city of Kings and the border town – as he also performed in these cities in March as part of the Easter Holidays celebrations.

Joining Macheso on stage will be dance groups Afro Queens, New Age Queens, Callistus Tavengwa, DJs Keitho, Ayaxx, Vic Jee, Tesso as well as MC Kay One.

Macheso’s publicist, Tichaona Makahamadze gave details on Macheso’s latest album and its positive impact so far amongst his fans in Zimbabwe and abroad. He reckoned that Macheso nailed it on the album.

“The project carries six tracks including Kuverengera, Undiregererewo, Zvichada Hama, Murangarire, Kunditaya and Hunhu Hwakashata. It was produced at Alema Music in Chitungwiza by Bothwell Nyamhondera.

“As we have said before, once more, I would like to emphasise to all Macheso’s fans, including those in Bulawayo and Beitbridge – where we will be hosting shows soon – that this album is worth every penny because we took our time working on it.

We don’t have an excuse to disappoint them because they have faith in us and the launch of the album at Alex Sports Club is a testament that the album was delivered at the right time and it was ripe.

So, on these two upcoming gigs in Matabeleland, I urge people to come in numbers and witness greatness as Macheso delivers a splendid performance that they will cherish forever,” said Makahamadze.

Tapiwa Gandiwa who is one of the organisers of both shows said all was set for Macheso to re-unite with his fans.
“Macheso has always regarded Bulawayo as his home and in recent years he also adopted Beitbridge.

As he successfully launched his album, we saw it fit that we organise a show where his local fans can have a live performance taste of Kupa Kuturika. On the nights, we will be celebrating a legend in the industry and people should come in numbers wherever they are,” said Gandiwa.
