SUNGURA ace Alick Macheso and rising star Kudakwashe “Oriyano” Kachiko headline the 65th Castle Tankard Horserace slated for Borrowdale Racecourse on May 10.

The much-anticipated event, a collaboration between Delta Beverages and Mashonaland Turf Club, brings together thousands of fans each year.

While the horserace is a significant draw, the highlight of the day is undoubtedly the musical gig featuring the country’s top entertainers.

This year’s major crowd pullers include Macheso and Oriyano, alongside the talented Nisha T, whose career continues to soar after her successful popular song, “Admire Kadembo”.

With her undeniable talent, Nisha T is certainly among the elite performers of the moment.

The line-up also features Enzo Ishall, Delroy Shewe, and the Chillspot Family, promising a diverse range of entertainment that will keep the audience engaged throughout the day.

Macheso’s team has confirmed their participation, expressing excitement about this year’s event.

“We are ready for the event and can’t wait to meet our fans. While we have participated in previous editions of the Castle Tankard, this year feels particularly special to us,” stated Macheso’s publicist, Tichaona Makahamadze.

The anticipation is palpable as fans are urged to come out in numbers for what has become a staple on the showbiz calendar.

Makahamadze has promised fireworks at the event.

“We can’t afford to disappoint our fans and sponsors who have shown immense faith in this brand. As we call ourselves the people’s musical group, fans should come in numbers and have fun with us in Borrowdale. Our mandate as a band is to sing for them and make sure they go back to their homesteads happier than usual,” he added.

As customary, the Chillspot Family, led by hype man DJ Fantan, is expected to add a vibrant atmosphere to the event. Fantan, who remains the face of Chillspot Family, could not hide his elation after being invited to the event.

“It’s an honour being invited to this year’s Castle Tankard at the Racecourse, where we are not strangers.

“To all my fans, they should expect new acts that will certainly leave them in awe. I am very excited to be part of this event, which means a lot since we are going to be sharing the stage with other big names,” he remarked.

With performers like Enzo Ishall, Delroy Shewe, and Oriyano — who are known for their engaging performances — attendees can expect an exhilarating experience.

Event organisers have reassured fans of a memorable occasion, stating, “As one of Zimbabwe’s Grade One horse racing events, the Castle Tankard holds a prestigious place in the hearts of horse owners, trainers and jockeys.

“With stakes set at USD $50,000, participants from across the region are gearing up for the competition.”

Overall, the Castle Tankard promises a day filled with thrilling races, entertainment, and celebration.

This year’s event aims to create an unforgettable experience, characterised by unity and excitement.

As a favourite among punters and Harare residents alike, the Castle Tankard continues to be a highlight on the national events calendar, attracting crowds eager for both entertainment and competition.

In addition to the performances, the event will feature various activities designed to engage the crowd, especially                       children.
