SUNGURA superstar Alick Macheso has promised his fans in the UK a show pregnant with fireworks.
He is set to perform at the Unplugged show at Athena Leicester on Saturday.
Macheso and his group, Orchestra Mberikwazvo, touched down at Gatwick yesterday morning after a direct flight from Harare aboard Air Zimbabwe.
He was also joined by fellow musicians – Kurai Makore and Tocky Vibes – who are expected to share the stage with the sungura king at the event.
Promoted by Phab Entertainment, the show is expected to attract hundreds of Zimbabwean music lovers, and sungura fans, who are resident here in the UK.
Macheso promised fans an explosive performance.
“We have come to the UK to give our fans a show they will remember.
“They should expect fireworks at Athena Leicester.
“We are ready to give them the best of Macheso and Orchestra Mberikwazvo.”
Macheso has a special relationship with his fans in the UK, many of whom have followed his music throughout his career.
His return this year is expected to ignite nostalgic memories of his old hits, while also giving fans an opportunity to sample his newer music.
The veteran musician has built a strong following among Zimbabweans living here with his previous UK appearances attracting large crowds.
His latest visit has, expectedly, generated considerable excitement, with fans expected to travel from different parts of the country for the Leicester show.
Also on the bill is Kurai Makore, the nephew of legendary Chimurenga musician Thomas Mapfumo. Makore, who has been generating headlines, is expected to use the platform to further showcase his talent to UK audiences.
Despite the controversy that has recently stalked him, Makore has remained unfazed and focused on his music.
Interestingly, it appears the controversy has also seen a number of fans committing themselves to support Makore and his music.
