Sungura legend Alick Macheso has moved to calm public anxiety following a wave of social media speculation over a road accident scare, assuring fans that he is “fine and well” and resting at home.

Macheso, who was occupying the back seat, escaped unscathed when the vehicle he was travelling in was involved in an accident with a commuter omnibus near Blue Ridge Complex along the Harare-Mutoko Highway.

His camp yesterday dismissed reports suggesting the musician was involved in a serious crash while driving a luxury vehicle, clarifying that the circulating claims were misleading and exaggerated.

“I am fine and well” — Macheso reassures fans. Through his management, Macheso confirmed he escaped unhurt after a minor road incident in which he was travelling as a passenger along Mutoko Road.

“There is no cause for alarm. He is safe and sound and resting at home. “I can confirm that our boss, Alick Macheso, was involved in an accident early Sunday morning on his way from a show near Blue Ridge Complex along the Harare-Mutoko Highway,” said Makahamadze.

“He was merely a passenger occupying the back seat when the accident occurred  said his manager,” Makahamadze.

The team also dismissed claims linking the incident to a luxury Mercedes-Benz reportedly associated with businessman Wicknell Chivayo, stressing that the vehicle involved was a Toyota Fortuner GD6 and not the gifted high-end car circulating in online discussions.

Social media misinformation dismissed

Management said the situation had been blown out of proportion by social media speculation, which wrongly identified the vehicle involved and spread unverified claims.

They urged the public to verify information before sharing, adding that it was a minor incident and all occupants were safe. Despite online confusion, Macheso took time to extend a heartfelt Father’s Day message to fathers across Zimbabwe and around the world.

He said: “Kunana baba vose vari pasi rose, ndinoti makorokoto pazuva ra nhasi reFather’s Day.
