MACHETE TERROR! Home invasion rapist gets 25 years

A KADOMA man who teamed up with two accomplices to commit a vile armed robbery and rape has been slapped with an effective 25 years behind bars.
The 28 year old thug was convicted by the Kadoma Magistrates Court after the court heard how he and two accomplices still on the run stormed a couple’s home in Masendeke Compound on the night of 18 August 2025, armed with a machete and evil intent.
Prosecutors told the court that the accused burst into the house and immediately unleashed violence, assaulting the male victim before ransacking the home.

He stole US$100 and then turned his attention to the woman, dragging her away from her terrified partner.
In a cruel twist, the attacker abducted the female victim to a nearby bush where he raped her twice, ignoring her pleas as she fought for her life and dignity.
The traumatised woman later managed to escape from her attacker and staggered to safety, where she reported the matter to the police, triggering a manhunt.

Justice began to close in when members of the public spotted the suspect days later at Chivaura Mine, where he was apprehended and handed over to police. During investigations, items of his clothing were recovered and later admitted as key evidence during trial.

The court heard that the brutality of the attack, the use of a weapon and the emotional scars inflicted on the victim left no room for leniency.
The magistrate sentenced the offender to five years imprisonment for armed robbery and 20 years for rape, resulting in an effective 25 year custodial sentence.

In a strong message following the ruling, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe said gender based violence remains a grave crime that will be met with the full force of the law.

“The NPAZ is committed to prosecuting perpetrators relentlessly and upholding the rights of survivors to justice and dignity,” read the statement.
As two accomplices remain at large, police have vowed to hunt them down, while communities have been urged to stand together against violent crime and protect women and children.
