Madamombe rallies Black Rhinos

BLACK RHINOS are hoping to put up a perfect show and eclipse leaders ZDF in the second half of the Nedbank Premier Netball League that resumes with four cluster contests today.

The league has been on a three-week mid-season break and second-placed Black Rhinos believe they have freshened up enough to be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with the pacesetters.

Four points wedge them from ZDF who have 30 points to their name, but Rhinos have a game in hand, making the race between the two even more scintillating.

Black Rhinos captain Winfielda “Little” Madamombe, who is currently not in the right physical condition to play, is helping out her peers with tactical tips and has rallied them to push ZDF to the limit.

“I know what Black Rhinos are capable of doing. We are a team with a determined spirit and I know we can go all out winning for the remainder of the season,” she said.

“We are targeting a whitewash this second phase. It’s attainable and we know if we can do that, we will have a chance to win the championship.

“That is what we are aiming for as a team.”

While beating ZDF will hand the initiative to Rhinos, they will have to shelve those thoughts and instead focus on the work at hand this weekend.

They will be expected to sail through, but they know their three opponents in Mucheke, Masvingo will not surrender the points easily.

Rhinos will face St P & P, Argistars and Beitbridge.

In Marondera, ZDF will face Waterfalls, Harare District and the hosts, while the Assah Zimusi-inspired Harare City take on JT High Fliers, Stormers and City Angels at the Stodart Complex in Harare.

Falcon, 7 Flames, Mutare City and ZUPCO battle it out at the Sakubva Beitin Mutare.

All games will be played on Saturday.
