ZAPALALA Supermarket has been charmed by Bulawayo-based artiste Madlela Skhobokhobo and have made him their brand ambassador.

The supermarket group is running a Mega Price Drop Promotion which was launched on September, 4 and will end on November 14. Lucky customers can win various prizes that include gas stoves, bicycles, branded t-shirts and caps.

Madlela Skhobokhobo praised Zapalala for recognising the importance of roping in artistes in promoting their brands.

He said corporate endorsement was necessary for artistes to improve themselves.

“It’s very important for corporates to work with us. This is the boost that we need as artistes so that we can do our work at a larger scale. This also links us directly with the people,” he said.

“Zapalala has done a good thing running this promotion. Because right now the economy is performing badly, many people are struggling so running the promotion will be good for them as well.”

He urged his fans to take advantage of this promotion and shop cheaply.

“This is a shop which understands people’s problems. It’s a grassroots shop. You can find any ordinary person shopping from it. They sell all the groceries that are needed by our people,” he said.

Local artistes have always clamoured for corporate endorsement saying internationally artistes have succeeded partly because of deals they make with companies.

Zapalala Supermarket manager Jacob Chisema said Madlela Skhobokhobo is the man of the moment.

“His music is penetrating so many areas across the country. He is even penetrating the Mashonaland market. We saw it fit that if we include someone like him who is also popular.  It can improve our sales,” said Chisema.

He said it was also the company’s way of giving back to the community.

“The company is trying to give back to the society, expressing gratitude to its customers for standing with us. Our sales have dropped by 20 percent so we hope this promotion will put us back on the map,” said Chisema.
